Though the rules of moderation in eating are usually valued, it’s undeniably appealing that the keto diet seems like a pain-free way to achieve weight loss that produces quick results.

When she went on keto, it only took a couple of weeks for Chrissie to feel the difference. The pounds started to fall away, her energy levels soared and she felt more cognitively alert. The fact that her keto eating outlawed carbohydrates – a sweet and all-too tempting staple – while encouraging fatty, fibrous foods such as avocados and other nuts, olive oil, salmon and cheese meant she was sated, and did not feel the urge to continually snack – a vice that had caused her to overeat in the past. Her fans, long used to seeing her Instagram pictures of meals or avo breakfasts, started flooding her at the gym or even on social media, wondering: how do I go on keto?

The other thing I love about the keto diet is that it is flexible and versatile, so I was still able to enjoy my favourite foods if I just entusted to the right substitutions. I found out, for example, that in many recipes you could replace rice or potatoes with cauliflower, and you could still have favourites such as stir-fries and casseroles without being deprived. Since I now had a lot of freedom of choice and variation, the diet soon became pleasurable, and it became very easy for me to stay on track in the long run. The results were even more impressive.

Overcoming Challenges and Staying Motivated

Like all weight loss paths, there were hiccups and frustrations, where the scales weren’t shifting or she had a craving. On these occasions, she said she remained motivated by smaller achievable milestones such as losing a couple of kilos or fitting into a particular size of clothes.

Along with goal-setting, Chrissie also created an instant team of loved ones, friends, fans and followers who cheered her on every day along the way. Visualisations that one can go back to when times get tough. Professional role models or user-generated content of people who have ‘made it’ – lost the weight and kept it off through months of hard work and discipline.
