While looking over the research on the effect of GLP-1 receptor agonists on alcohol consumption, I stumbled across a recent and _really_ interesting paper on how that class of drugs affects sensation. So that's what we're doing today, talking about this hugely consequential new class of drugs - Wegovy/Ozempic (semaglutide), Mounjaro (tirzepatide, although that's also a GIP), and whatever else is going to be out there - with an eye towards spirits nerdery. First I broadly discuss the history and basic mechanisms of these drugs, with a brief detour into side effects and what I would consider to be "best practices" in using them for weight loss purposes.
