Dr Maran says in this video that if weight loss is ever caused when a patient has piles, it has something to do with the psychology of the patient. He says some patients sense that the constipation is aggravating the piles and hence causing either pain or bleeding or both. So these patients take the extreme step of minimizing the intake of food to escape constipation. He goes on to say that general weight loss even due to the presence of piles even though the person might be obese is not something to be happy about.
Dr Maran emphasizes the fact that constipation is caused by foods that are high in carb (simple carbohydrate) and very low in fiber content. Therefore, he advises taking food that is balanced in protein, fat, complex carb and fibrous vegetables if you have piles.
Dr Maran also warns people with piles having increased rectal bleeding. He asks such patients to check with their surgeons.
