It is the KetoACV diet that is the latest craze in town. Combining the natural power of the keto diet along with the detoxifying properties of apple cider vinegar, this progressive approach to weight loss and overall health has been making the rounds for what they say is its impressive results. But what is KetoACV and what can it do for your health? In this article, we investigate why the KetoACV diet has become so popular and if it works.
Understanding KetoACV
KetoACV, a dual-method diet, combines the ideas of the ketogenic diet and the addition of apple cider vinegar. The ketogenic diet, shortened to ‘keto’, is a high-fat, low-carbohydrate way of consuming food. It does so for the sole purpose of putting the body into ketosis. Once in this state, the body starts to use fats for energy and instead of glucose. In a similar manner to the more recent intermittent fasting trend, keto neatly skips around the nutritional practices of previous years. While the craze behind the keto diet has come and closely followed the hype around fasting, another product has persisted in remaining in the American food lovers circle. That’s apple cider vinegar – commonly ACV. ACV has been claimed to aid weight loss, prevent diabetes, aid with digestion, alleviate skin conditions, assist in an overall health regime, and even minimise inflammation.
A fundamental principle of the KetoACV diet is that people need to reduce their carb intake while increasing their fat intake. The underlying biochemical rationale here is that this shift in the ratio of macronutrient percentages compels the body to stop relying on carbohydrates for fuel and start burning fat instead. As long as people remain in this state known as ketosis, the theory goes, their bodies can effectively burn their own fat to fuel the body, hence the purported fat loss and other health benefits.
The KetoACV Diet’s formula of ½ to 1 tbsp of apple cider vinegar is touted as a supplement to the ketogenic diet that can enhance your health in ways that the ketogenic diet alone cannot. According to the suggested uses, apple cider vinegar can help with weight loss because drinking it can increase the feeling of satiety, decrease appetite and help you burn more calories while mastering your blood sugar levels. It has been suggested to assist in proper digestion and to reduce inflammation. This combination is thought to enhance your health and improve your weight-loss efforts.
The Benefits of KetoACV
There are a few possible benefits of the KetoACV diet, including weight loss. Carbohydrates are what people typically use as their main source of fuel. If inflammation is responsible for much of the disease we see, reducing this inflammation might make you feel better.
Potential Drawbacks of KetoACV
Although the KetoACV diet has many potential advantages, it also may have some disadvantages to it. First, the ketogenic diet comprised in this programme can be quite restrictive; by severely limiting one’s carbohydrate intake, some people might find it difficult to consume enough calories and essential vitamins and minerals to meet their nutritional needs. Furthermore, as the ketogenic diet requires strict adherence to specific macronutrient ratios (ie, getting around 75 per cent of your calories from fat, around 20 per cent from protein, with almost zero carbs), it can be a challenge to stick with it long term.
Another possible pitfall of the KetoACV diet is side effects: starting the diet can make you feel tired, dizzy or lightheaded, cause a headache, and give you constipation. Those don’t happen to everyone who tries the KetoACV diet but they can affect people, and are sometimes referred to as the ‘keto flu’ as they usually go away once the body is transitioning to use fat for fuel. It’s possible that this ‘keto flu’ might be too unpleasant for some people, making it difficult to continue with the diet.
Last but not least, the KetoACV diet might not be suitable for everyone. For example, those with the disease diabetes, or those who have kidney disease, those battling or recovering from an eating disorder, or those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, should talk with a healthcare provider before starting such a diet plan. Overall, I’m of the opinion that you shouldn’t go on any one diet. Each person has to monitor their own health and wellbeing, and make decisions about what they want from a diet.
In summary, KetoACV diet is different weightloss and health strategy that incorporates the concept of the ketogenic diet with the health benefits of apple cider vinegar in order to assist individuals in losing weight quickly, maintaining healthy blood glucose levels, and other health benefits. There are however some potential downsides to KetoACV diet that must be considered such as micronutrient deficiencies, side effects and health status before altering their diet to KetoACV. It is therefore advisable to consult a medical practitioner or a nutritionist before beginning the diet.
