Lilly has announced price reductions for the two lowest doses of its obesity drug Zepbound (tirzepatide) when purchased through its direct-to-consumer channel, LillyDirect.
The new prices for 2.5mg and 5.0mg doses will be at least 50% lower than the list prices of other GLP-1 obesity medications, but only for self-pay customers and not for insurance-covered doses.
This move follows a similar strategy by Hims & Hers, who in May announced plans to offer discounted compounded versions of semaglutide -- which is also sold as the type 2 diabetes med Ozempic -- starting at $199 a month.
Hims is also offering a $79 a month plan for an oral version of semaglutide. That is also known as Novo's diabetes pill Rybelsus.
