For more than a decade, the Australian radio and television presenter Chrissie Swan has been famous, and people, fans and the media alike, have kept close tabs on her wellbeing. She had tried many diets, years and years of them, and wrestled with her weight and body image, and the toll it took on her mental and emotional health. So when she began her journey on the keto diet, during which she lost around 20 kilos (44 lb), she was frank about her challenges, about what had been impossible for her up until she found this way of eating.
The keto diet is a high fat, carb restricted eating regime that shot to fame when the star of The Biggest Loser Australia Chrissie Swan undertook it. The weight started to drop off her hefty body and she was pleasantly surprised to find that the meals she was eating were so damn tasty and full. As long as she eliminated carbs and replaced them with healthy fats, she was losing kilograms and enjoying those fluffy dumplings in her soup. She’d kickstarted her metabolism, relying on fat reserves for survival while she sequestered carbs as fuel for maintaining respiration.
Unlike before she started a keto diet, however, Chrissie Swan has found that, so far, she could weather the initial cravings, alter eating behaviours, and fit in with friends and family while meeting her health and fitness goals.

The fact that the keto diet helped Chrissie Swan slim down, and keep the weight off, is a big reason why she knows it’s a very good thing: by following the keto eating plan, Chrissie was able to get lighter and slimmer.
